Together we can heal generations!

Hello there!

A woman with dark red hair smiling outdoors, dressed in a purple blazer, light blue floral blouse, and a pearl necklace, leaning against a white wall with green trees blurred in the background.

I’m Bhakti Shah — a registered social worker, psychotherapist, and parent & child coach. I support parents of children (birth to 12 years), and adults navigating the complexities of life, parenting, and general mental health challenges. Whether you're an expecting parent, deep in the magical chaos of early childhood, or trying to make sense of who you are in the middle of it all — I’m here to walk with you.

I hold a Bachelor’s in Child Development and a Master’s in Social Work, and I’m a licensed social worker in Ontario. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices — with room for humor, honesty, and realness.

I have worked with children, women and families for more than 17 years and enjoyed every bit of it. Supporting parents in transforming their relationship with their children is at the heart of my practice. I believe that children thrive when parents are supported and that together, we have the power to heal generations.

The Spirit of ‘Ekya’

“Ekya” ~ EH KY AH or Ai-kya ~ Derived from Sanskrit language

Ekya embodies the importance of unity and collaboration, while respecting individuality. It reminds us that we are all parts of a whole and that there is warm space for each part and the whole.

In the same breadth, Ekya recognises how we as the adults have our own parts to play in raising respected, well-adjusted, happy children who ripple out the same into their own worlds. We aim to reinforce the fact that ‘children are whole humans of their own’ and that the way we raise them transcends into the larger world.

“As we heal ourselves, and heal our families, we heal the world.”

— Vivek Patel (Meaningful Ideas)

Land Acknowledgement

I live and work on the traditional territories of the Cree, Anishinabewaki, Mississaugas of the Credit, Haudenosaunee, and Anishinaabe peoples in Brampton, Ontario. As a South Asian settler immigrant, I acknowledge the enduring connection Indigenous communities have to this land.

As I do this reflection, I acknowledge that I am an immigrant from India - brown skin, cis-gender, straight woman with invisible disabilities, living as a settler on these Indigenous lands.

My South Asian ancestors were colonized and recolonized over centuries, and so as a settler on the Turtle Island, I acknowledge and continue to seek permission to co-exist on these lands, and share its resources. I am committed to ongoing learning, honoring Indigenous rights, and contributing to reconciliation through respect and shared responsibility.
